About The Position

The Background Investigation Coordinator position at NYC Health + Hospitals involves participating in various personnel and labor relations functions, including applicant recruitment, background investigations, onboarding, and compliance with policies and laws. The role is crucial in ensuring that the organization adheres to all relevant regulations while providing high-quality health services to New Yorkers. The position is full-time, with a regular day shift from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline; or
  • High School Diploma and two years of relevant experience in human resources, administration, or a related support function.
  • At least two years of prior HR experience in a public agency or governmental sector, with at least one year in onboarding and/or background investigations.
  • SHRM or PHR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in preparing and posting employment and volunteer opportunities, reviewing applications, informing hiring managers of qualified candidates, and scheduling interviews.
  • Assists in ensuring that applicable positions are filled through the civil service testing and selection process, including attending hiring events and participating in interviews.
  • Facilitates the completion of background investigations and the onboarding processes, ensuring candidates meet minimum qualifications and that all necessary documents have been submitted.
  • Collaborates with departments to coordinate attendance of training programs and developmental opportunities for employees.
  • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of human resources information system data by processing and reviewing employment transactions.
  • Resolves or routes general employment-related inquiries, assisting employees with internal procedures and benefit options.
  • Addresses and redirects employee assistance, employee relations, and labor relations inquiries as necessary.
  • Supports regulatory compliance by auditing personnel and background records and preparing related reports.
  • Monitors and maintains performance management records and reports, ensuring timely completion.
  • Assists with the collection, analysis, and presentation of workforce-related data.
  • Participates in quality assurance/performance improvement activities and training.
  • May be responsible for training newly-hired and incumbent staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
