Role Overview: We’re looking for a talented BACKEND ENGINEER I to join our small, energetic engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has a strong foundation in software development principles, and is eager to grow their technical skills while contributing to innovative backend projects that drive business success and improve health outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
HS Diploma required
2-4 years professional experience with team-based development
Experience with modern PHP (8+) required
Understanding of software engineering best practices such as testability and object-oriented design with the ability to incorporate these into technical solutions

Nice To Haves

Experience with a PHP framework (e.g. Symfony or Laravel), Doctrine DBAL/ORM, and SQL is preferred
Experience in healthcare industry is preferred

Responsibilities

Work in a small, tight-knit, empowered team to build and deploy cloud-based backend APIs and services for Ovia's mobile applications to deliver a solution that provides daily personalized health support for women and families
Participate in code reviews in a way that deepens team knowledge and improves our technology
Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly across the development lifecycle
