About The Position

Gigster is seeking a Backend Engineer with strong expertise in TypeScript, REST APIs, and Nest.js to work directly with one of our customers on building and scaling modern web applications. This role is backend-focused, with ownership of API design, server-side logic, and integrations, while contributing to frontend workflows when needed. You’ll collaborate closely with the customer’s engineering team, ensuring best practices, type-safe code, and high-performance solutions. This is a hands-on development role with the opportunity to influence technical direction and contribute to scalable system architecture.

Requirements

• Proven experience building REST APIs and backend services (Express.js preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Nest.js
• Advanced proficiency in writing scalable, type-safe applications in TypeScript
• Experience with authentication, authorization, and API security
• Comfortable working with distributed teams, contributing to shared codebases, and using Git effectively
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment

Nice To Haves

• Experience with React.js (bonus, not required)
• Familiarity with cloud deployment environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Exposure to Agile environments and CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain REST APIs (Express.js preferred)
• Develop backend services and integrate them into Nest.js applications
• Write clean, efficient, and type-safe code in TypeScript
• Ensure backend performance, reliability, and security best practices
• Debug, test, and resolve production issues across the stack
• Participate in peer reviews and contribute to architectural decisions
• Collaborate with the client’s team to deliver production-ready solutions
