Backend Engineer – Infrastructure & DevOps

Learn more at: C3 AI We are looking for a highly motivated Backend Engineer to join our Infrastructure & DevOps team. You will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the backbone of our scalable cloud environments, developer productivity applications, and CI/CD systems. Your work will directly support engineering productivity and system reliability across the company.
Requirements
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of software development experience in production environments.
- Deep understanding of Docker image-building, containerization, and lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience with contemporary build tools and systems.
- Passion for clean, maintainable code, with a strong emphasis on automation and developer enablement.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with major cloud providers such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Responsibilities
- Design and develop internal software and applications using Java, JavaScript, Python, and Shell.
- Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment across a distributed development organization.
- Support engineering workflows and release automation.
- Containerize and orchestrate services using Docker, ensuring consistency across development, staging, and production environments.
- Manage services in Kubernetes (K8s) clusters, supporting scalability and high availability across environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve deployment workflows, monitor systems, and respond to incidents.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
