Some Facts About Us: · 1+ million shipments per year · Over $1 billion of freight under management · Cashflow positive since inception About the Role We are looking for a Backend Engineer who thrives in one of the hardest environments in business: legacy supply chains, enterprise customers, startup speed, and chaotic real-world operations. At Vorto, engineers are builder-owners who turn messy, ambiguous problems into automated, scalable systems that transform how freight moves across America. You’ll work across the stack to design, build, and operate mission-critical services — embedding AI agents, stabilizing and scaling high-volume systems, and automating workflows that eliminate manual work. Successful engineers here move with 10× speed, recover quickly, understand fundamentals deeply, and own outcomes end-to-end. What You Will Do: Design, build, and operate services used daily by shippers, carriers, and drivers Automate developer-dependent tasks (e.g., tool creation and debugging) to accelerate internal and customer automation efforts Embed AI/LLMs (Vertex AI, open‑source models, agentic tools) to automate decision‑making and super‑charge developer productivity Stabilize backend services Own Problems end to end What You'll Work With Backend : Golang, Python, Postgres, Redis Infra : GCP What Sets You Up for Success Must‑haves: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale. Strong background in product driven backend development Deep understanding of what makes systems performant, scalable, and maintainable Fluency with SQL schema design and data modeling for transactional & analytical workloads. Demonstrated ability to leverage LLMs/AI agents to boost velocity and solve novel problems. Superior product reasoning skills Exceptional written & verbal communication ; able to align technical decisions with business outcomes. Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale.
