The Backend Developer – Cloud will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-hosted backend systems that support large-scale operational and data platforms. You will work within a cross-functional technical team to ensure data integrity, system performance, and secure handling of sensitive information. This role offers the opportunity to design and optimize cloud-based applications and databases, integrate APIs and performance dashboards, and support operational reporting across complex programs. You will also troubleshoot infrastructure issues, participate in data validation, and collaborate closely with technical leads and stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable solutions. The position emphasizes best practices in cloud development, security, and compliance, providing a high-impact environment with opportunities to influence critical backend processes.

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services supporting cloud-hosted data platforms.
  • Design, deploy, and enhance cloud-based applications, databases, and services.
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive data (PHI/PII) in accordance with industry standards.
  • Integrate APIs and performance dashboards for internal and external reporting.
  • Participate in data validation, migration, and quality assurance processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backend and cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with technical leads and cross-functional teams to align solutions with business and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support system reliability and performance.
  • 5+ years of experience in backend development roles, preferably in healthcare, government, or large-scale public systems.
  • Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or .NET.
  • Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP, covering storage, compute, and database services.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).
  • Experience with RESTful API development and integration.
  • Understanding of data security, HIPAA compliance, and cloud access controls.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare quality data (HEDIS, CAHPS, Value-Based Purchasing).
  • Experience supporting government health programs such as Medicaid, CHIP, or Medicare.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools and dashboard integration.
