This person must be a highly driven individual that will use sub arc welding in the 1G & 2F positions, Gas Metal Arc Welding in the 2G & 2F positions using the spray transfer mode to weld steel components together or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders. Essential Functions Utilize all safety devices and wear all mandatory personal protective safety equipment. Maintain and operate production tooling and fixtures as well as all welding equipment in a safe and secure manner. The ability to produce high quality welds by means of GMAW and SAW in the fabrication of utility structures with low non-conformity rate. Perform welding operations requiring planning of work from blueprints or other written specifications and determine operation sequence while consistently meeting production goals. Responsible for longitudinal welding of shaft seams to complete a full penetration weld. Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings. Read and complete labor reporting system, standard shop forms and blueprints. Other duties as required and/or assigned. Important Details about the Role The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing quality products complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer. The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction. The employee is responsible for their own work. Read and interpret blueprints and flat sheets without assistance to properly weld products. Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty. Make mathematical calculations in preparing products or setting up the machinery. Must be able to work with other employees to complete jobs. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed production goals while not sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Ability to read weld symbols, understand blueprints and perform basic mathematics.
  • Must be able to pass and obtain Submerged Arc Welding in the 1G and 2F positions certification.
  • Must be able to pass and obtain Gas Metal Arc Welding in the 2G and 2F positions certification.
  • Welds must be able to pass UT, which requires a high skill level.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook or similar email software.
  • Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
  • Must be able to use and accurately read a tape measure.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of previous, hands-on GMAW and SAW multi-pass welding experience in a production environment.

  • Five (5) + years of previous experience in a professional welding position
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
