Website: HI-LEX.com POSITION SUMMARY: The Back-up Trainer supports the Trainer by assisting in employee training, reinforcing standardized work practices, and stepping into the Trainer role during absences or peak production periods. This role serves as a developmental position for future Trainer opportunities and helps maintain training continuity across shifts and lines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience in manufacturing environment
  • Use hand tools, crane, grinders, calipers, and gages
  • Use of a hand or powered pallet jack
  • Use of a computer and typical office software
  • Ability to use handheld scanner
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment in assigned area
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record
  • Strong communication and coaching skills.
  • Ability to train and evaluate employee performance objectively.
  • Basic math and measurement proficiency.
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, gauges, wrenches, screwdrivers, and testing equipment.
  • Strong attendance and dependability record.
  • Problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in training new hires and cross-training current employees.
  • Reinforce safe work practices and standardized work instructions.
  • Support hands-on demonstrations and workstation coaching.
  • Help monitor trainee progress and report concerns to the Trainer or Supervisor.
  • Assist with in-process checks and gauging.
  • Identify potential quality issues and notify leadership.
  • Promote 5S and TPM standards.
  • Reinforce safety policies and escalate concerns immediately.
  • Assume full Trainer responsibilities during Trainer absence.
  • Fill in for operators as required.
  • Relieve operators for breaks.
  • Assist with training documentation and required paperwork.
  • Follows all safety rules and keeps the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assist with morning stretching activities during pre-shift.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
