About The Position

BASIC PURPOSE: To fill in for regular drivers as need to deliver meals to elderly clients according to established routes in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Deliver meals to clients and congregate sites according to established routes. Includes checking meal type, verifying count to daily route list, and loading meals onto the vehicle. 2. Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle. 3. Report any vehicle mechanical or service problems as well as any traffic accidents, warnings or violations to the Coordinator immediately. 4. Record required data Mileage and Temperature Report sheet on a daily basis, i.e. starting and ending mileage, unit temperatures for oven and refrigerator, and meal temperatures. 5. Operate the vehicle in a safe manner incompliance with municipal, state and federal laws. 6. Report any non-delivered meals and the reason for non-delivery to the Coordinator. 7. Notify the Coordinator immediately of any unusual circumstances, social or health problems regarding the client. 8. Assist the Coordinator in designing efficient meal delivery routes. 9. Distribute donation envelops, information, emergency meals, favors and commodities as required. 10. Receive client donations and submit collected donations to the office on the day of receipt. 11. Maintain the integrity of the meals and personal cleanliness while performing food handling duties. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform other related duties as required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily driving in company van, frequent stops at numerous client homes with varying degrees of accessibility in all types of weather.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid CT driver's license with a clean driving record for previous 3 years.
  • Knowledge of service area.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., be able to drive including getting into and out of vehicle frequently and sitting for brief periods of time, ability to climb stairs, bend and lift.
  • Ability to function within guidelines of Agency’s core values and identification with Agency mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous delivery driving experience a plus.
