About The Position

As a Back Plant Operator, you are responsible for housekeeping throughout the facility and the safe and efficient operation on the tipping floor. This includes the grounds keeping and other assigned duties to maintain performance of the facility. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred; Reworld offers GED Works – a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule
• Front Loader or heavy equipment certification preferred
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb ladders
• Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
• Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
• Qualify to wear a full-face respirator and other PPE
• Consistently work in all weather conditions
• Rotating 12-hour shifts, days and nights; shift is 5-2-2-5

Responsibilities

• Overall Plant Operations
• Perform facility housekeeping and various cleaning assignments to maintain a safe, orderly and clean work environment according 5S principles.
• Responsible for routine ash testing and other operational assignments given by the supervisor to the plant including outage activities.
• Working mandatory overtime as needed or required to maintain the facility.
• Supporting the profile waste coordinator with daily tasks and assignments.
• Adhere to all OSHA and HazMat Procedures with respect to the storage and handling of materials in the area.
• Responsible for reporting malfunctions of equipment or processing to the supervisor.
• Performs additional tasks as directed by the shift supervisor or his/her designee
• Tipping Floor
• Responsible for operating heavy equipment front-end loaders to feed waste into the refuse pit.
• Guides incoming waste trucks and directs dumping location on the tipping floor.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and an orderly clean work area.
• Performs daily routine pre-operational inspection of heavy equipment, maintains proper fuel, lubricant, and oil levels and fills out required log sheets.
• Performs troubleshooting on equipment, reporting all malfunctioning equipment to the shift supervisor for the issuance of work orders.
• Performs lockout and tagout of equipment in support of maintenance activities.
