The Back Office Technician is responsible for performing a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. This role involves preparing patients for examination and assisting other optical professionals in providing treatment to the eyes. Key functions include ensuring a positive and professional environment, collecting and documenting patient information, verifying medical history, obtaining consents, performing various eye tests (Refractions, Visual Acuity, IOP, Fundus photos, Visual Field, Flourescein Angiogram, Indocyanine Green Angiography), administering ophthalmic medications, maintaining sterile exam rooms, providing patient education, and accurate documentation in the EMR system. The technician must maintain a professional appearance, keep commitments, and comply with all relevant regulations (OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies). In some clinics, driving patients in a company-provided vehicle may be required.
