About The Position

Ensure that all back end equipment from the end of the washer/dryer through the pallet staging area is maintained and operating to produce cans which meet quality specifications.

Requirements

  • Advanced mechanical skills (including working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics) and ability to use precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.).
  • Ability to understand the manufacturing process of cans and ends, in addition to the equipment, and quality specifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude on all can and end making equipment in the plant.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems, gauges, tools and equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate production forklift.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of applicable safety regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate clearly with all team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up, maintenance, and ensure efficient operation of flangers, beaders, light testers, lacquer spray machines, IBOs, palletizers, and strappers.
  • Maintain and set-up back-end conveying systems, including single filers and can transfer apparatus.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and document can specifications in the system.
  • Perform visual checks to ensure compliance with standards and take corrective action when problems are found.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and documentation, including process check sheets, logbooks, and maintenance records.
  • Conduct equipment set-up evaluations (ESE) and make proper adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in other areas of the plant to maintain smooth can flow.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas and follow proper safety procedures and work practices.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as required.
