The Class B Lineman - Overhead is a semi-skilled position responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. This role involves working safely with energized and de-energized overhead systems, stringing wire, setting poles and anchors, and installing various electrical components like transformers, lightning arrestors, and switches. The position requires troubleshooting primary and secondary systems, replacing fuses, and clearing faulted circuits. It frequently involves working with high voltage systems, demanding skill and care. The Lineman is also responsible for maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools. The role may require travel to different locations and states based on customer demands and involves rigorous physical labor, often in inclement weather, and outside of normal work schedules, including weekends and holidays.
