About The Position

The Class B Lineman - Overhead is a semi-skilled role focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. This position requires working at various locations, potentially including travel to other states based on customer demands. The role emphasizes safety while handling energized and de-energized overhead work, and involves physical labor and technical skills related to electrical systems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years recent field experience in electrical overhead work.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days of employment; a Commercial Driver's License is preferred.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice when required.
• Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Ability to inspect rubber goods and PPE properly.
• Willingness to work overtime and outside of normal work schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with induced voltage and grounding procedures.
• Experience with load buster tools and single phase transformer installations.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Knowledge of phasing out a line using phasing sticks.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work safely.
• String overhead wire and set poles and anchors.
• Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot in primary and secondary systems and replace fuses in transformers.
• Clear faulted circuits and systems.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings effectively.
• Perform reconductoring jobs safely.
• Work with energized high voltage systems, ensuring safety for self and others.
