About The Position

The Boeing Company is looking for a B-52 Test & Evaluation Engineer (Flight/Mission/System Test) to join our Bombers team at Edwards Air Force Base (AFB), CA. This position supports developmental ground and flight testing the B-52 Stratofortress programs. The Boeing Company supports multiple platforms at Edwards AFB in conjunction with 419th Flight Test Squadron, Global Power Bomber Combined Test Force (CTF), working directly with government and industry partners to improve the warfighting capabilities of the United States Air Force. This position will focus on test planning, test execution, problem identification and resolution, data collection and analysis, and customer interaction in a fast-paced team environment. Edwards AFB is the home of the 412th Test Wing and the 2nd largest Air Force base. The Test Wing oversees base day-to-day operations and provides support for over 10,000 military, federal, civilian, and contract personnel assigned to a 481-square mile installation. The 412th Test Wing plans, conducts, analyzes, and reports on all flight and ground testing of aircraft, weapons systems, software and components as well as modeling and simulation for the U.S. Air Force. There are three core components for this mission: flying operations, maintenance, and engineering. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior B-52 Test & Evaluation Engineers (Flight/Mission/System Test).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years of experience with flight test, flight operations, or system test
  • 3+ years of experience in complex test planning, development, and execution
  • 1+ years of experienced as a Test Conductor, Test Director and Lead Verification Engineer

Nice To Haves

  • Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience supporting a military flight test program
  • Experience as a project focal or project lead
  • Experience with radar systems
  • A Secret U.S. Security Clearance that has been activated in the past 24 months

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and verification of test methods
  • Develops detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan
  • Develops solutions to calibration systems problems of limited scope and impact
  • Designs test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements
  • Uses analytical tools to verify the design
  • Analyzes, processes, and formats data to customer requirements
  • Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
  • Prepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements
  • Presents test results internally
  • Archives data and reports
  • Trains others
  • Works under general direction
