About The Position

In this high-impact role, you will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable Microsoft Azure Government (IL5) cloud environments while integrating advanced data solutions and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. You will lead efforts to optimize cloud operations, enforce compliance with federal standards, and leverage automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to increase efficiency and resiliency. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI/ML workloads, modern DevOps pipelines, and complex cloud infrastructures. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will mentor engineers, oversee deployment pipelines, and drive continuous innovation in cloud architecture and operations. Your work will directly influence mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability, data security, and operational excellence. The role includes remote flexibility and occasional travel to support program objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degrees a plus.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in cloud operations, including at least 5 years in Microsoft Azure environments; prior experience with Azure Government IL5 strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in Azure services including AKS, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, and Synapse Analytics.
  • Strong skills in SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automation.
  • Experience with security frameworks, compliance standards, and tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Proficiency in cloud optimization, data solutions design, AI/ML workload integration, and system resiliency practices.
  • U.S. citizenship and active Secret clearance required; ability to maintain clearance as a condition of employment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to lead cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, implementation, and optimization of Microsoft Azure Government (IL5) environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and system resiliency.
  • Drive Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, implementing self-healing workflows, monitoring, alerting, and incident recovery automation.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain advanced data solutions leveraging Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, and AI/ML integrations.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep to automate deployments and maintain configuration consistency.
  • Manage DevOps pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, supporting CI/CD for applications and AI/ML workloads.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD Cloud Computing SRG, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP High standards, and maintain security best practices across all environments.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to cloud engineers, overseeing adoption of Azure services, data solutions, and cloud optimization practices.
