About The Position

The Azure Platform / DevOps Engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is responsible for building and optimizing scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud platforms using Microsoft Azure. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and performance of the Azure platform, particularly in government projects. The position is part of the Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division, which supports various Laboratory organizations with IT expertise.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building Azure platforms on the cloud.
• Experience with DevOps (DevSecOps) principles and practices.
• Ability to implement cloud-native solutions in Azure.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Azure services (VMs, Azure Functions, App Services, etc.).
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell or Azure CLI.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Active Directory, RBAC security, and networking best practices.
• Understanding of Azure security features such as Azure Firewall and Key Vault.
• Monitoring and optimization skills using Azure tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize Azure platforms for scalability, security, and performance.
• Implement cloud-native solutions focusing on cost efficiency and security in Azure.
• Create and manage automated pipelines following DevOps (DevSecOps) principles.
• Leverage tools like Terraform, GitLab, ARM templates, or Bicep for Azure resource management.
• Monitor platform performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
