About The Position
The State of Mississippi (MDEK12) is seeking experienced Azure Data Engineers to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions in Azure. This role supports large-scale K-12 education data systems and reporting platforms, handling both structured and semi-structured data sources.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in:
- Building and orchestrating data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and/or Azure Synapse Analytics
- Data warehousing and analytics engineering with Azure Synapse (dedicated & serverless SQL pools)
- Strong T-SQL skills including query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning
- Implementing ETL/ELT frameworks, incremental loads, CDC patterns, and error handling
- Integrating data from APIs, SFTP/FTP, and vendor systems (CSV, JSON, XML)
- Source control and deployments using Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) and K-12 education data
- Familiarity with Common Education Data Standards (CEDS)
- Azure Data Engineer Associate certification
- Serverless computing and performance optimization experience is a plus
