About The Position

We have partnered with our client in their search for a AWS Engineer in Columbus OH or Wilmington DE. The AWS Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture of the product, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements. This role involves overseeing the rationalization of assets owned or used by the product to optimize performance, cost, and resource utilization. The engineer will define the target state architecture of the product and drive the achievement of the strategic goals, laying out the architectural runway and developing a technical roadmap to achieve the target state in incremental steps. Additionally, the engineer will ensure adherence to Enterprise Architecture standards and guidance, maintaining consistency and compliance across the product architecture. They will address data concerns and non-functional requirements, such as performance, scalability, security, and reliability, within the architectural plans. The AWS Engineer will assess the changing needs of the business and its customers to identify the right architecture and technology solutions that support the product, providing technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring best practices and standards are followed. Regular reviews and assessments of the product architecture will be conducted to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous enhancement. The engineer will represent a product family of technical governance bodies, provide feedback and propose improvements to architecture governance practices, guide evaluation of current technology, and lead evaluation of new technologies using existing standards and frameworks. They will regularly provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors, develop secure and high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others. The AWS Engineer will drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes, serving as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus. They will actively contribute to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle, influencing peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies, while adding to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture, applications, and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
  • Practical cloud native experience.
  • Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to select or recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional).
  • Experience in the Banking Domain.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar.
  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
  • Familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and its principles for building secure, high-performing, resilient, and efficient infrastructure.
  • Experience with Artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.
