The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is looking for an experienced Cloud Administrator to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for implementing, securing, monitoring, and maintaining cloud-based systems across major platforms. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our cloud environments are efficient, reliable, and secure, helping us deliver high-quality services to our customers. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and able to operate independently, as well as collaborating across program teams. This is an on-site, non-remote position for our North Logan, UT location.

  • Develops and maintains a deep understanding of program cloud environments
  • Proactively monitors AWS resources and services to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and strong security across all deployed environments
  • Supports daily operations by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of cloud infrastructure and related systems
  • Implements and follows established IT and security policies, including change management and compliance procedures, to maintain system integrity and reliability
  • Ensures data integrity and protection through proper configuration, access control, and backup/recovery practices
  • Collaborates with program leads to prioritize cloud projects, service requests, and configuration changes
  • Accurately documents tasks, incidents, and resolutions in Jira (or similar tools), providing clear updates on progress, workflow status, and timelines
  • Assists with the design, deployment, and configuration of new cloud systems, applications, and automation processes
  • Contributes to infrastructure-as-code and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance scalability, performance, and efficiency
  • Maintains detailed and up-to-date documentation for all assigned systems, configurations, and operational procedures
  • Troubleshoots and resolves AWS environment performance, network, and security issues.
  • At least 10 years of relevant IT or systems administration experience, with a minimum of 3 years specifically focused on administering and optimizing AWS environments, including compute, storage, networking, and security services
  • Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting AWS networking components such as VPCs, subnets, routing tables, Transit Gateways, NAT Gateways, load balancers, VPNs, and firewalls
  • Proficiency in cloud security best practices, including IAM role design and policy management, SSO integration, and enforcement of least-privilege principles using STS and role-based access controls
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation using Bash, PowerShell, or Python
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows server environments
  • Ability to implement and maintain Amazon EKS clusters, tuning performance and resource allocation to ensure resilient, secure, and efficient containerized operations
  • Experience supporting, updating, and patching in cloud environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging cloud technologies
  • Understanding of AWS’s catalog of services such as EC2s, container solutions, storage, firewalls, security groups, WAFs, Active Directory, Lambdas, Secrets Manager, etc.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification that meets or exceeds DoD 8570 (or the ability to obtain within a maximum of 30 days after hire)
  • Willing to travel if required, though not typical
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and either possess an active U.S. security clearance or have the ability to obtain one
  • BS degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science, information systems, engineering, or related computer field
  • Experience with containerized platforms (i.e., EKS)
  • Knowledge of DoD Security Requirements within classified spaces
  • Understanding of information systems security best practices and use of security tools such as Nessus, SCAP, and applying STIGs
  • Server and desktop (workspaces) configuration and maintenance experience
  • Experience with SSM and Patching operating systems
  • Active AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Architect Associate (or the ability to obtain within a maximum of 90 days after hire)
