About The Position

The AW Treatment Operations & Maintenance Technician Associate at the Davis Water Treatment Plant is responsible for performing essential operations and maintenance tasks to ensure the effective treatment of water. This role involves monitoring systems, managing chemical dosages, conducting water sample tests, and performing mechanical maintenance on plant equipment. The position offers on-the-job training and a career progression plan, allowing employees to advance without a competitive process while obtaining necessary licenses.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a similar work environment such as process control or plant operations.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate TCEQ License within one year of employment.
  • Valid Texas Class 'C' Driver License or ability to acquire one by hire date.
  • Ability to become certified for Respiratory Protection and Confined-Space Entry Program within six months.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maintaining and repairing mechanical industrial equipment including hydraulic systems.
  • Previous pumping distribution or water treatment experience in a municipal water system.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Training and/or experience in welding and the use of oxygen and acetylene torch.

Responsibilities

  • Perform water treatment plant operations including process control and monitoring systems.
  • Manage chemical dosage in water basins and conduct water sample tests.
  • Record and report water sample readings accurately.
  • Perform mechanical work on plant equipment including preventative and scheduled maintenance.
  • Conduct diagnostic and corrective maintenance on equipment and assist with new equipment installations.
  • Maintain operational records using log books, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Act as a member of the Confined Space Entry Team.
