Job Summary Responsible for supporting VP – Head of Large Commercial Property in the development of TMA-LCP with a growth strategy focused on profitability. Executing and leading on a strategy that positions Tokio Marine to meet client’s needs, increase company revenues and achieve our corporate profit and return on risk objectives.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum ten years of underwriting or placement (brokerage) experience in US P&C insurance industry with five or more years in large property accounts
  • Three or more years in a supervisory/management/team lead role
  • Excellent working knowledge of property underwriting mechanics – RMS/AIR CAT modeling, Hazard Grade/fire rate baselining, etc.
  • Senior relationships with key producers at Alpha broking houses
  • Highly motivated to succeed
  • Frequent Business Travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Execution of a profitable growth strategy for LCP Business in cooperation with the other TMA Divisions, including the policy, strategy, products , staffing, distribution, operations, systems and other necessary resources to support the execution of corporate objectives and increase the presence of TMA and LCP in the marketplace.
  • Implementation of underwriting strategy for LCP Business including: underwriting policies; standards and procedures; price levels; limits; coverage scope , critical cat, portfolio mix, reinsurance and capacity deployment in accordance with the Company’s and the Tokio Marine Group’s and TMA risk appetite.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with TMNF, TMNAS and other TMA and Group Company Divisions to provide the best solution for client, broker and TMA, with platform-agnostic approach.
  • Management: Supports disciplines, philosophies, and oversight around all aspects of underwriting strategy and human resources management including: staffing; training; development; and performance management.
  • Provides account specific advice and technical guidance as required and manages “underwriting authority” within the referral process.
  • Creates an environment that fosters teamwork and respect, empowers and develops others, values diversity and supports all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Technical / Business Process: Monitors underwriting results and operations to make sure certain disciplines, philosophies and procedures are maintained.
  • Monitors environmental, legal, competitive, regulatory climate and results to identify trends.
  • Responsible for signing off Pre-Quote Peer Reviews and approves accounts as necessary.
  • Develops reinsurance strategy and structures considering both individual risk and treaty to manage line size within underwriting guidelines.
  • Ensures that all documentation is completed on a timely and accurate basis to corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with all relevant rules and regulations including but not limited to; Money laundering, Sanctions, Financial crime, Bribery and corruption
  • Development of existing and new LCP related products : Maintains product, pricing and coverage levels to ensure that filings are competitive, in compliance with all laws and regulations and are in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Recommends and/or develops new programs, procedures and practices as appropriate.
  • Assist's in the development and implementation of distribution strategy for LCP Business.
  • Establishes, develops and maintains relationships with intermediaries, brokers, agents, clients and other business partners to secure business opportunities and portfolios that will produce superior underwriting results over the long term.
  • Participates in corporate Enterprise Risk Management efforts.
  • Maintains underwriting strategies to monitor and control the company’s catastrophe and non-catastrophe exposures.
  • Supports VP of Large Commercial Property in collaboration efforts with TMNF and other Group Company divisions to deliver required reports and functionality to execute LCP strategy and execution of inter-company cross sell strategy.
  • Oversees operational process and directs efforts to increase levels of efficiency using automated underwriting tools.
  • Travels domestically and internationally as necessary for successful execution of job duties.
  • Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry our responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.
