The AVP of IT Infrastructure and Network is a senior leadership position at Xcel Energy, responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT and operational technology (OT) infrastructure and network systems. The position requires leading the design and implementation of scalable and secure infrastructure, network, and cloud solutions, ensuring that the IT infrastructure can support current and future business operational requirements. The AVP will oversee the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of network servers and systems, while implementing stringent security measures to protect the organization's data and IT assets, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. The AVP will also be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT infrastructure and network services, implementing proactive monitoring processes to ensure high performance of existing systems. Building, leading, and cultivating a high-performing team of IT infrastructure and security engineers is essential, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The role involves effectively managing a cross-functional team in the delivery of capital projects and operations, deploying resources across programs to ensure optimal utilization and performance. Additionally, the AVP will develop and manage the budget for the Infrastructure and Network, monitor expenditures to align with the company's financial objectives, and identify opportunities for cost savings through efficient resource allocation and vendor negotiations. Communication of IT strategies, progress, and risks to executive leadership and stakeholders is a key responsibility, along with managing relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective services. The AVP must navigate industry standards and compliance requirements in a highly regulated environment, validate disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and conduct regular risk assessments to minimize potential IT threats and vulnerabilities.
