About The Position

The AVP, Facilities Planning, Design & Construction is responsible for leading all aspects of facilities planning, design, and construction across UF Health within assigned regions. This role ensures alignment with system strategic goals while maintaining full compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Serving as a key partner to facility administrators and senior leaders, this position provides strategic direction for the development and optimization of UF Health’s physical assets. This role leads long-range facility planning, multi-year capital development, and execution of complex capital projects to support the system’s growth and operational priorities.
This leader also oversees regional Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction functions, including team leadership, budget management, and implementation of standardized processes to ensure high-quality, efficient project delivery across the system.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare facilities design and construction
• At least 5 years of experience working with regulatory agencies, preferably within Florida
• Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing complex capital projects and multidisciplinary teams
• Strong understanding of healthcare facility regulations, codes, and compliance requirements
• Proven ability to lead strategic planning efforts and manage large-scale capital budgets

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic facilities development planning across assigned regions, aligning capital investments with system priorities
• Provide executive-level consultation, problem-solving, and leadership for facilities capital projects
• Partner with hospital and system leaders to plan and optimize physical assets in support of organizational goals
• Direct planning and design services, including programming, space planning, design development, and option evaluation
• Develop and manage long-range facility plans, including multi-year capital schedules and budgets
• Oversee regional Facilities Planning, Design & Construction teams, including staffing, performance management, and team development
• Build and mentor high-performing teams, strengthening organizational capabilities and leadership bench
• Establish and manage departmental goals, operating and capital budgets, and strategic direction for regional functions
• Ensure consistent implementation and oversight of system-wide processes, policies, and standards for facilities development
• Direct all aspects of Facilities Development operations, including planning, construction, project management, space inventory, furniture assets, and facility standards
• Develop and execute long-range departmental business plans aligned with system strategy
• Ensure appropriate staffing models to support current and future project demands
