About The Position

This is a sourcing leadership position within HealthTrust Performance Group, the healthcare industry's only nationally committed Group Purchasing Organization. This position leads a team responsible for managing natural gas, electricity and related energy services agreements for our members. The position is both client and supplier facing with an emphasis on creating industry leading pricing, supply stability, risk mitigation, and contract risk management services to HealthTrust members. The HealthTrust energy group acts as a "buyer's agent" for healthcare members in the negotiation of market-based energy commodity agreements. Additionally, this position provides a high degree of focus on strategy development and management in the reduction of client's annual energy spend. This position requires a proven track record of success in leadership, communications and organizational influence by working with executives, advisory boards, legal, finance, account management and other departments in the delivery of the Energy team's objectives. Expertise in sustainability and resiliency is also required as part of this role. Mandatory key competencies include communications and presentation skills, planning & organizing, strategic decision making, organizational development, continuous learning, customer relations and strong work standards. Responsibilities also include the development and execution of sourcing goals. In addition, this role requires the cultivation of strategic relationships with suppliers and HealthTrust clients

Requirements

  • Accredited College Bachelor's Degree required in business, finance or engineering required
  • At least 15 years of relevant work experience - Required
  • Candidate will have experience in directing a strategic sourcing team and negotiating a variety of contracts in the energy industry.
  • Relevant work experience includes, but is not limited to: Energy commodity trading; Natural gas or electric utility contract negotiation; Energy hedging; Energy marketing; Facility/Plant operations; Contracting financial analysis; Commodity risk management; Regulation of utility services; Strategic sourcing
  • Must Possess an in-depth understanding of the energy industry - Required. Including: Fundamental and technical market dynamics; Pricing comparisons between supplier offerings; Pipeline networks, capacity markets and physical flow patterns; Federal and state regulatory issues which impact delivery services and costs; Awareness of legislative issues that impact gas and electric industries; Understanding of cost drivers (direct and indirect); Resource issues that impact long term supply/demand balance; Price risk management strategy development; Hedging strategies; Regulatory environment related to sustainability/resiliency efforts

Responsibilities

  • Ensure best in class industry pricing, contract terms and conditions
  • Interpret complex internal or external business issues and take a broad perspective in identifying and executing solutions
  • Responsible for department performance and outcomes
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic direction for the Energy team
  • Direct, staff, train and motivate energy sourcing team
  • Ensure effective collaboration across other functional groups including account management, finance, sales and other internal organizations
  • Lead interaction with client board members
  • Engage senior executive management in strategic contracting discussions
  • Support sales and account management activities to ensure healthy pipeline of potential member customers
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with both suppliers and clients
  • Development and achievement of financial and performance goals
  • Innovate and develop new client solutions
  • Identify contract opportunities for resiliency/sustainability solutions for members and assist with execution of agreements for member utilization
  • Performs other duties as assigned
