About The Position

At Vantage, the AVP, Corporate Underwriter will collaborate with Underwriting teams and Insurance Leadership to ensure all business groups have clear Underwriting standards and Underwriting Governance. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic self-starter who can be successful in a fast-paced environment, is able to balance multiple daily priorities, and is excited to be exposed to all aspects of commercial insurance. You will be a part of a highly collaborative team where your contribution is crucial to the ambitious goals of this fast-growing Specialty Insurance and Reinsurance carrier. This role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer - Insurance, and is a flexible, remote opportunity or hybrid opportunity based in one of Vantage’s office locations. Vantage’s US colleagues have the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States (excluding US territories and possessions).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • At least five years of industry experience required.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and related operational workflows and processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Very strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple assignments, prioritize work and meet deadlines in a dynamic and results oriented environment.
  • Strong customer service focus with both internal and external customers to effectively multi-task with limited direction.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Strong collaboration with Underwriting teams, Insurance Leadership and all company functions to ensure all business groups have clear underwriting guidance and standards of underwriting governance.
  • Design, implement and monitor critical governance controls across all Insurance lines of business.
  • Support key stakeholders across all Insurance lines of business as well as the centralized capabilities to drive efficiency and excellence.
  • Assist in Vantage Underwriting, Finance and Ceded Reinsurance purchasing to ensure effective integration with underwriting strategies and documentation and communication of facultative placements.
  • Work with all external Vantage program/MGA underwriting partners to ensure compliance with agreed underwriting guidelines via an annual audit process.
  • Coordinate post-bind peer reviews of underwriting files, participate in bi-annual departmental underwriting audits and assist in the review of business unit underwriting guidelines.
  • Help develop and then lead internal systems to support key governance processes including an internal review framework and underwriting statements of authority.
  • Support new product innovation including development of Product Innovation framework, workflows, processes, and reports.
  • Manage communication between the Chief Underwriting Office and other Vantage stakeholders and serve as coordinator of intracompany SharePoint site resources.
  • Design metric dashboards and tools for management reporting.
  • Provide timely support of various procedures / processes including capturing issues / risks, action items and solutions.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel will be required.
