About The Position

The AVP, Construction Defect Claims leader at Amerisure is responsible for leading the Construction Defect claims unit, ensuring exceptional customer service and superior claims outcomes. The position requires a Juris Doctorate and significant management experience, focusing on talent management and succession planning.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate required.
• 10 years of commercial claims experience, including 7 years handling complex construction defect files and 3 years handling litigated files.
• 5 years of leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of tort, contract, and coverage laws in multiple jurisdictions (TX, FL, SC, AZ).
• Experience with complex construction defect claims involving multiple policy years.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel overnight and locally up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and develop staff in the Construction Defect claims unit.
• Partner with field marketing, underwriting, and risk management leaders to achieve strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with claims management to develop service strategies that meet or exceed service levels.
• Guide and coach direct reports to build strong relationships with agents and policyholders.
• Conduct comprehensive investigations and evaluations on coverage, liability, and damages throughout the life of claims.
• Influence claims outcomes through action plans designed to achieve desired resolutions.
• Identify and pursue early resolution when appropriate and adjust loss reserves based on new information.
• Analyze key performance indicators to identify claim trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Implement loss cost and ALAE management programs to deliver quality claims outcomes.
• Monitor claims adjudication compliance with Amerisure guidelines and quality standards.
