About The Position

Reporting to the VP, Mortgage Operations, this position is responsible for making informed credit recommendations for the Company for borrowers seeking financing solutions for business purpose lending (BPL). The position reviews BPL loans and underwrites them to company guidelines while working closely with the VP, Mortgage Operations to monitor credit risk and policy. The role is responsible for maintaining the quality of the Company’s assets and mitigating financial losses by performing a detailed analysis of a borrower’s entity, financial profile, track record and collateral characteristics.  This position collaborates with operations and sales to ensure the collective team is knowledgeable and up to date on lending guidelines and requirements for BPL products. The role is responsible for ensuring that all credit recommendations and property financing loan approvals conform to the Company’s underwriting guidelines and investor purchase requirements. Additionally, the role is responsible for maintaining all Service Level Agreements established by the Company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent combination of years of experience with High School Diploma/GED)
  • 5+ years of successful mortgage loan underwriting experience, including Business Purpose Loans (BPL)
  • 3+ years’ experience managing people and leading teams highly preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BPL product offerings, including but not limited to DSCR, Fix and Flip, Blanket Loans, Multi Family Loan Products
  • Proven ability to review, analyze, and issue accurate loan approval findings
  • Prior experience collaborating and working effectively with sales/ account executives
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Strong skills and experience in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across the organization
  • Collaborative and consultative work style; high team-orientation
