Rocket Lab is seeking an Avionics Test Engineer I/II to join our Space Systems team based in Long Beach, CA. This role is pivotal in the design, testing, and integration of electrical systems and electronics that are essential for our space missions. The Avionics Test Engineer will be responsible for developing test plans and programs that support the development of space flight hardware and systems. This includes managing and conducting Acceptance, Qualification, and Proto-Flight test programs, as well as developing automated test hardware and platforms to facilitate these tests. The engineer will also support the design and development of space flight hardware, ensuring that it is designed for testability and manufacturability. Additionally, the role involves analyzing Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) component test levels against mission environmental test requirements and contributing to the development of engineering and business processes to enhance Rocket Lab's growth and capabilities. As part of the engineering team, the Avionics Test Engineer will also contribute to establishing best practices in areas such as testing, design for manufacture, and engineering change management. This position can be filled at either the I or II level, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware development or electronics test engineering, with programming experience in Python being essential. For the II level, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required. Candidates with an understanding of electrical test equipment, environmental design testing, and project management skills will be preferred, although these are not mandatory. The role requires specific vision abilities and physical capabilities to perform tasks effectively, including regular use of hands and fingers, operating computer keyboards, and communicating verbally and in writing.
