The Avionics Technician position at General Atomics involves providing technical and operational support for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) electronic equipment, particularly for the MQ-9. The technician will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various electronic systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.

  • Operates UAV, ground control stations, and ground support equipment at operation locations.
  • Analyzes customer requirements and evaluates product implementation to meet specifications.
  • Assesses customer needs for data interface and recommends actions for product solutions.
  • Provides technical support on installation, configuration, application, and repair of products and systems.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of ground and airborne electronic equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces components based on test results and technical documents.
  • Performs installation, configuration, and testing of computer hardware, software, and networked systems.
  • Conducts inspections and preventative maintenance on ground and airborne systems.
  • Validates and verifies accuracy of technical documents and procedures.
  • Recommends changes to technical documents based on system knowledge and best practices.
  • Fabricates, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs wire harnesses and assemblies.
  • Represents the group with internal and external customers.
  • Conducts training and practical instruction of peers and customers in the use of electronic systems.
  • Education or formal training equivalent to a two-year technical degree or trade school equivalency.
  • Two or more years' experience in aviation or electronics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot at the component level.
  • Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions.
  • Considerable knowledge of electronic test equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical orders.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Good analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
  • Familiarity with military specifications and standards.
