The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bell's FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sunsetting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Army's assault capabilities. The FLRAA program is utilizing the latest in cutting edge technology to expand the United States Army’s tactical advantage in future conflicts. The Bell FLRAA team seeks the top engineering talents from around the industry to design, develop, and deliver the world’s next-generation military aircraft. This position is fully onsite at Bell’s Headquarters in Fort Worth, TX. Depending on project needs, the primary work location may shift to our Flight Research Center in Arlington, TX. FLRAA Avionics Infrastructure Software Lead The FLRAA Avionics Infrastructure Software Lead role will be leading the development and execution of the architecture and design of the hardware and software infrastructure to support software development. There will be a heavy focus on developing development containers, test infrastructure and test automation to support our DevOps environment. Tests will be executed against both embedded and associated application software. This role will include leading/mentoring/tasking junior team members to meet defined project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical or other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable software experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with at least 2 years’ experience in developing and architecting embedded software, including hardware and software integration is required. Prior aviation experience, preferred.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and/or Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and Container development
  • Experience with Git version control system
  • C or C++ experience in a Linux development environment, preferred
  • Strong communication skills, analytical, problem-solving skills, mentoring and facilitation skills
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and be a change agent for the team
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in development, integration, validation and verification of systems.
  • Self-motivated and able to track and report performance to cost and schedule.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, documentation, development containerized software infrastructure for build systems, test benches, and test platforms.
  • Lead the design, documentation, development of functional and unit test software for systems in accordance with the Software Development Process and coding standards and guidelines.
  • Participate in software design/code reviews to enable subsequent test automation development.
  • Lead Integration efforts/Bug fixes
  • Deliver capabilities using agile practices while also following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes as appropriate to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met
  • Help manage risks, raise impediments, and facilitate their resolution
  • Identifies key cross-functional issues and project synergies; provides guidance with complex project issues
  • Coordinate team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques
  • Accountable for cost and schedule performance on assigned activities.
  • Maintain performance and Earned Value (EV) metrics and report to leadership.
  • Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.
