About The Position

HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Avionics Engineer to help support our customer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. This role will need an understanding of DoD, Air Force as well as common engineering/scientific principles, processes and procedures that allows for translating user requirements into weapons system, requirements. This will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate weapons systems, subsystems and equipment for eventual fielding and deploying.

Requirements

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate; or High School Diploma and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in design and troubleshooting of Avionics subsystems such as EGPWS, Transponders, TCAS, ACARS, VHF, UHF, HF Radios, DME, MMR, and CVR.
  • Working knowledge in NAV displays, data buses (MIL-STD-1553B and ARINC-429), test planning and conduct, and FAA and Air Force airworthiness/certification process.
  • Experience in engineering evaluation of prime and subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs), and Airworthiness Directives (ADs).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications.
  • Translate user requirements into system requirements for design, development, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of systems and subsystems.
  • Provide support to produce or review products including technical evaluations/plans, engineering studies, reports, and analyses.
  • Support project team meetings, working groups, and reviews as needed.
  • Analyze equipment and software deficiencies and make recommendations for corrections.
  • Support systems analyses including avionics system design/design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessment.
  • Assist in performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments.
