About The Position

The Avionics Engineer is responsible for developing engineering solutions to affect repair and modification of the Allegiant Air aircraft fleet. This position also advises and provides technical expertise to Line Maintenance by phone, email and in person, to ensure on-time fleet operations.

Requirements

  • Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • Bachelors Degree.
  • OR
  • High School diploma plus FAA Airframe and Powerplant ratings plus five (5) years of airline/ OEM/ Military avionics engineering experience.
  • OR
  • High School Diploma plus ten (10) years of airline/ OEM/ Military avionics engineering experience.
  • Airframe & Powerplant, FCC License, or EASA B2.
  • Avionics Engineer License is preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years' of airline/ OEM/ Military avionics engineering experience.
  • Valid/Unexpired Passport Book: Yes
  • Hands-on-experience working aircraft wiring changes and/or avionics testing procedures such as 14 CFR Part 43 & 91 system testing for Altitude reporting and ATC.
  • Knowledge and ability to research ADs and other FARs.
  • Experience with Arbortext editing software, TRAX and MS Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Avionics Engineer License.
  • Knowledge of FAA Certification and Airworthiness requirements including MAJOR/MINOR determination, Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), and Ops Specs.
  • Knowledge of Airbus, Boeing 737 MAX, aircraft avionics and systems.
  • Knowledge of COMM, NAV, RADAR, Surveillance, Indication, CVR/DFDR, Power distribution, Avionics Software, and aircraft wiring standards.
  • Expertise in at least one of the aforementioned areas: COMM, NAV, RADAR, Surveillance, Indication, CVR/DFDR, Power distribution, Avionics Software, and aircraft wiring standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand OEM Wiring Diagram Manuals (WDM) and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Research and provide data for the development of modifications to improve Allegiant fleet reliability and for compliance to airworthiness regulations.
  • Provides oversight and engineering expertise to contracted repair agencies conducting heavy maintenance and repairs to aircraft components.
  • Develop Engineering Repair Orders (ERO) for accomplishment of Avionics repairs/modifications.
  • Develop Engineering Orders (EO) for the incorporation of modifications to aircraft avionics and/or electrical systems/components.
  • Coordinate repair plans with Materials/Purchasing, Coordinate with Maintenance Planning and Maintenance Control.
  • Coordinate with aircraft heavy maintenance vendors to ensure approved data is used as the basis for avionics repairs/modifications.
  • Assist with reliability analysis and development of reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Avionics Engineering.
