The Avionics/Electrical Technician Lead - 2nd Shift at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, GA is responsible for planning and coordinating all electrical and avionics activities. This role involves providing customers with daily information on aircraft schedules, repairs, and parts, while working closely with hangar management to ensure that aircraft requirements are met. The position requires a strong background in aircraft avionics and electrical systems, with a focus on compliance with safety regulations and operational procedures.

  • Plans, schedules, and completes tasks on work authorizations to meet the master schedule.
  • Provides daily status reports and progress schedules to management.
  • Coordinates efforts of Electrical and Avionics activities to meet aircraft schedules and deadlines.
  • Supervises and instructs electrical technicians with technical guidance and proper procedures.
  • Reviews daily job charging for all personnel to ensure accuracy of inputs.
  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program on test equipment, hand tools, and special tools.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Aircraft Service Changes, Customer Bulletins, and inspection schedule requirements.
  • Supervises a continuous safety program in the hangar area.
  • Enforces company FOD, tool control, 5-S programs, and all safety regulations.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines concerning projects.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Eight (8) years experience in aircraft avionics/electrical career field, or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and six (6) years related experience.
  • Two (2) years experience on large/mid-size aircraft.
  • Other Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license preferred or must be able to obtain a Repairman Certificate.
  • Other FCC license preferred.
  • Other NCATT Certification preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/avionics system drawings and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement and obtain objectives with minimal direction.
  • Good understanding of PC, Windows, and mainframe computer applications.
  • Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, and environmental controls.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small-space restricted areas, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hand tools and avionics test equipment.
