About The Position

The Technician will be a team member on both our Avionics FAA Part 145/ Part 21 areas as well as supporting the Defense production area as needed. This role involves production build, troubleshooting and repairs or overhauls of moderately complex electronic instruments and display components to specifications, customer expectations, and Thomas Global Systems approved procedures in a clean and safe work environment, with assistance as needed. In addition, this position accurately prepares and completes appropriate documentation.

Requirements

  • Attendance – regularly scheduled attendance at work required
  • Physical - Routinely lift 10lbs, occasionally 50lbs, can identify colors, can tolerate sitting and standing, be able to read small print, tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance, able to read and write English.
  • Environmental – Tolerates working in a noisy environment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant technical education or avionics certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience as an avionics technician or in a related field is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using specialized avionics test equipment and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and of defense industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical dexterity and the ability to work in confined / dark spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Testing and Calibration: Conduct rigorous testing and calibration procedures on electronic and display equipment to ensure they meet industry and regulatory standards. This includes using specialized test equipment and software.
  • Manufacture: Build and test electronic and display equipment to approved manufacturing specifications and drawing.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, production build, including equipment manuals, test results, service reports and updating work order status as required by Thomas Global Systems approved procedures, manufacturers' maintenance manuals and FAA regulations. Ensure compliance with regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Software Updates: Update and load software programs into electronic systems as needed, ensuring they are up to date with the latest firmware revisions and requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all new build, repairs and maintenance work adhere to industry and regulatory standards, including FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations or other relevant aviation authorities.
  • Tidiness: Maintains and cleans test equipment and work area as required.
  • Safety Compliance: Comply with safety protocols and guidelines of Thomas Global Systems when working with electronic systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and other personnel to troubleshoot complex electronic issues and provide support when needed.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on advancements in electronic and display technology and regulations through training to maintain a good working knowledge.
  • Adhoc: Perform other duties as required by management.
