About The Position

Avionics Crew Lead reports to the Senior Crew Lead and is responsible for supervising Avionics Technicians to ensure the quality of maintenance, products, and service objectives of the repair station. They are to assure all assigned tasks are executed correctly and in accordance with FAR, current manufacturer's instructions, and this manual as applicable. The Avionics Crew Lead is responsible for the safe, reliable, and airworthy release of aircraft to revenue service on-time. This will be accomplished by following the inspection flow outline and attention to detail with respect to manpower management. The Avionics Crew Lead is responsible for flowing the inspection and making the necessary adjustment to maintain the on-time delivery date established at the beginning of the inspection process. Avionics leads are responsible for coordinating with other departments to ensure what each dept requires to maintain the on-time date. If the avionics lead has any inspection flow issues, they will get with the Senior Crew Lead on duty for clarification and or assistance for proper resolutions or extension to the return to service date.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
  • The Avionics Crew Lead shall be proficient with the methods, techniques, practices, equipment, and tooling required for the functions to be performed. They shall be thoroughly trained and qualified on the articles undergoing work and on the applicable regulations.
  • 3 years of experience performing hands-on Aircraft Maintenance
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and interactions
  • Thorough knowledge of current FAA regulations, IPM, and ATA codes
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States, must provide two forms of Federal Identification
  • Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. This includes verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and any other relevant information necessary to determine the suitability for the position.
  • This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive role under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA guidelines
  • Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics.
  • Thorough understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure proper functioning of an aircraft and its parts, systems, and mechanics.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to manual instructions to resolve complex mechanical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Walk through your assigned inspection bay prior to shift start and end taking notes on racks, tables, fire bottles, safety issues and general cleanliness, get techs to fix findings then.
  • Review and sign previous shift shop turnover log.
  • Review the hourly work orders you are responsible for.
  • Assign technicians to the task needed to keep on track of ERTS data on your aircraft following the inspection flow outline.
  • Review work order and order any parts not ordered yet for all tasks.
  • Review work order and move task into proper locations I.E., interiors, findings etc.
  • Coordinate with other departments for what their task or MX items is and move in WO accordingly
  • Coordinate with parts room for tracking of parts set to arrive each day for flow of INSP.
  • Walk around your inspection looking for techs who may need help, guide in correct direction, look at overall aircraft for anything may need fixed that wasn't caught on pre or inspection.
  • Review CAMP cards, open / close sheets for correctness.
  • Review all parts request prior to submittal to corridor.
  • Give updates to the Senior Crew Lead periodically over the shift.
  • Complete shift turnover log for your inspections.
  • Turn over to next shift
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Serve as the primary supervisor for assigned Technicians in matters related to time and attendance, PTO requests, and performance reviews.
  • Verify technician timecards for accuracy, address discrepancies, and ensure timely correction of any errors in coordination with HR or Payroll as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the assigned Senior Crew Lead to ensure proper communication and alignment regarding employee scheduling, shift coverage, and personnel updates.
  • Assist the Senior Crew Lead in the daily activities of maintenance personnel to ensure aircraft maintenance tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to Technicians to maintain workflow, resolve issues, and uphold productivity goals.
  • Monitor work performance, conduct informal mentoring, and assist the Maintenance Supervisor in supporting formal performance evaluation processes.
  • Ensure the work environment promotes safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
