Under the general supervision of District administrators, a school principal, or a designated staff member, an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Tutor works in a temporary, part-time position assisting and tutoring students on a variety of academic subjects, with the objective of improving students' performance in the assigned academic subjects. An AVID Tutor is distinguished from Instructional Assistant in that an AVID Tutor applies AVID-based strategies to enhance academic performance of assigned students within the AVID program. The AVID Tutor classification is considered a Non-Classified position.
