About The Position

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking tutors to assist students in various subjects, including reading comprehension, math, writing, and history. Tutors will be responsible for teaching basic concepts, guiding students through pronunciation, and explaining terms using definitions and real-life examples. The role requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to customize effective tutoring plans that address individual student needs. Tutors must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate mastery in subjects such as English and math. The position is non-regular hourly, with hours determined based on assigned location, program, and student needs.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or 72 credit hours of post-secondary education or passing Para Pro test.
• One year of prior experience working with school-aged youth, preferably in a classroom setting.
• Knowledge of childhood academic, social, and physical development.
• Ability to take direction from others and organize activities with the assistance of classroom teachers.

• Some post-secondary education is preferred.
• Experience in a multicultural and socio-economic setting.

Responsibilities
