About The Position

The AVID Tutor position is a part-time role focused on supervising and instructing students to enhance their learning experience. The tutor will assist students with lesson assignments, homework, and independent study, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. This role requires effective communication and the ability to adapt to various educational settings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and work as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with diverse groups of people.
• Ability to roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to speak, read, write, analyze, and follow written and verbal communication in English.

Nice To Haves

• Prior tutoring experience in K-12 setting.
• Fluency in another language other than English.

Responsibilities

• Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present and reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist with homework assignments and make-up work to support teachers in the instructional process.
• Guide students in independent study to ensure student success.
• Monitor individuals and groups of students in various settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
• Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support the teacher and administrator.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
