About The Position

The Principal Operations Inspector at the Jackson FSDO is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations, particularly for advanced multiengine turbojet aircraft. This role involves independent planning and execution of programs and projects, providing expert knowledge in flight operations, and developing technical procedures. The inspector will also assist in the evaluation of flight operations programs and maintain qualifications through participation in FAA flight programs.

Requirements

  • Not more than two incidents involving Federal Aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years.
  • Valid State driver's license and fluency in English.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings.
  • Minimum of 200 hours of flight instruction in an aircraft.
  • Professional flying skill demonstrated in a flight check to Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument rating.
  • Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours with at least 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FAR Part 135 air carriers/air operators.
  • Knowledge of aviation safety regulations and compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan, design, and carry out programs and projects related to aviation safety.
  • Establish technical procedures and performance indexes for flight operations.
  • Review complete flight operations programs for aviation industry leaders.
  • Develop and evaluate flight operations programs for complex aircraft and systems.
  • Provide staff assistance and serve as an advisor to management on technical matters.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical correspondence for various stakeholders.
  • Participate in the FAA flight program to maintain operational qualifications.
  • Evaluate tasks in FAA practical test standards as pilot in command or crewmember.
