CMT is seeking a Planner I, an early-career professional focused on developing fundamental planning knowledge and technical skills. This role supports planning projects under structured supervision, offering hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to a variety of public-sector planning efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aviation Management, Urban Planning, or a related discipline
- 0–3 years of experience in planning or a related field
- Basic knowledge of planning techniques, tools, and principles

- Ability to manage multiple assignments on a variety of projects, work in an environment to learn quickly, take initiative and interact with a variety of people located in Kansas City and other CMT offices

- Demonstrated responsiveness, professionalism, and teamwork
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Exposure to ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or other technical software required of the practice area
Responsibilities
- Acquire foundational industry knowledge while working under the guidance of experienced planners
- Complete assigned planning tasks of limited complexity, including data collection, analysis, design support, and technical writing
- Utilize technical software to perform analytical and planning-related assignments
- Develop public-facing documents that clearly communicate technical information to diverse audiences
- Perform field surveys, investigations, and data collection in support of planning studies, as needed
- Manage assigned tasks independently, ensuring adherence to project scope and deadlines
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and governmental regulations as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of planning projects
