The Aviation Operations Interns will rotate through the three units that make up Massport’s Aviation Operations division: Airport Operations, the Communications Center, and the Terminal Managers. Interns will gain meaningful exposure to the day‑to‑day functions of an FAA Part‑139 certified international airport and will also have opportunities to observe other Massport operating units to understand how a large airport operates as an integrated system.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university.
  • Ability to work a 37.5-hour work week.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
  • Ability to pass Massport’s pre-employment-controlled substance test and background checks.
  • Ability to pass Massport security clearance and obtain a Massport Security Badge.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in an aviation‑focused academic program.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through Airport Operations, the Communications Center, and the Terminal Managers group to gain hands‑on exposure to airport operations and safety functions.
  • Shadow operational staff during real‑time responses, inspections, and daily activity to understand the internal workings of a major international airport.
  • Conduct basic inspections of designated terminal or airfield areas under staff supervision and report observations as directed.
  • Perform data research as assigned, gathering information to support operational reviews, reporting, or project work.
  • Assist with compiling inspection results, field observations, or operational notes into usable formats for supervisory staff.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including filing, updating documents, and maintaining organized office records.
  • Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, training materials, and other operational documents.
  • Conduct data entry and assist with compiling operational information as needed.
