About The Position

Cape Cod Community College is seeking qualified Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) Instructors for its FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technology Program, located at the Plymouth Aviation Center in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Instructors will teach college-level FAA Part 147 aviation courses on a regularly scheduled basis. This includes delivering classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in aviation maintenance and related technologies to a diverse student population enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology and the Airframe and Powerplant Certificate Programs. Part-time instructional hours are available Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m., with occasional Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in aviation maintenance, aeronautics, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time experience performing or supervising aircraft maintenance activities consistent with FAA A&P privileges.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and present technical content effectively, including integration of aviation-specific software and instructional technology.
  • Commitment to the mission of a community college, including support for open-access, student-centered learning environments.
  • Ongoing professional development and currency in aviation maintenance practices and instructional methods.
  • Ability to teach effectively across a range of learning styles, educational backgrounds, and instructional settings.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to student support and faculty teamwork.
  • Ability to engage with a curriculum that spans broad content areas and supports a student body with diverse abilities, interests, and goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency with standard instructional tools including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other digital teaching resources.
  • Experience operating media and audiovisual equipment to support classroom and lab instruction.
  • Ability to maintain control in a classroom environment and diffuse difficult situations when necessary.
  • Experience with the integration of aviation technology and alternative delivery systems of instruction in the teaching-learning process.
  • Experience, an appreciation for, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom and laboratory instruction of FAA Part 147 aviation courses.
  • Participate actively in program activities, meetings, and faculty development sessions.
  • Participate in the Department's assessment, development, and implementation of lecture and laboratory curriculum, courses, and programs.
  • Maintain own professional certifications and remain current in aviation maintenance practices and standards.
  • Maintain and submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required documentation and reports per established procedures.
  • Actively utilize proven student retention techniques approved by the College.
  • Attend in-service training seminars, as required.
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned.
