About The Position

The Aviation Logistics Specialist at Axis Global Logistics is responsible for coordinating shipments and projects for the aviation customer base, ensuring quality shipping solutions under the guidance of the Director of Operations. This role involves acting as a liaison between customers and the company, handling requests for moving aircraft parts, and managing international shipping logistics.

Requirements

  • Two or more years in an operations role that includes routing over the counter shipments from the US to foreign destinations.
  • Overall understanding of the aviation industry.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to navigate TMS system.

Responsibilities

  • Professionally handle incoming requests from customers or third party vendors to move aircraft parts to domestic and international locales on a next flight out basis.
  • Calculate shipping costs on international cargo MAWB's and be familiar with the process of creating and filling out MAWB based on instructions supplied by the customer or last mile delivery agent.
  • Familiar with international export requirements from the US and able to file an SED with the AES system.
  • Understand import customs laws into the US and obtain POA for the correct entity to expedite clearance and delivery.
  • Select routing solutions for customer needs and determine the best routing options to international destinations based on service level.
  • Read commercial invoices and understand the details contained within, including determining who the USPPI and FPPI are.
  • Create international shipping documents.
  • Pre-alert service partners of special service requests via email.
  • Track and monitor all scheduled shipments, including calling or emailing customers with POD's.
  • Advise customers of delays on their shipment, including flight delays, flight cancellations, missed connections, etc.
  • Provide quotes for transportation charges to customers on request and answer customer questions regarding billing.
  • Escalate service issues to management.
  • E-book shipments efficiently using CPS-Descartes, etc.
  • Familiar with INCO Terms and understand the impact on financial responsibilities.
  • Understand the regulations surrounding DG shipments and their existence.
  • Familiar with oversized freight handling.
  • Read dimensions provided and calculate chargeable weight for domestic and international shipments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
