About The Position

Reporting to the CTE Coordinator, the Vocational Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible young adults . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. Teaches district-approved curriculum; prepares lesson plans accordingly. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a classroom/career area environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and work ethic when working on special projects. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and __in harmony with the goals__establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Ensures accuracy and best practices for compliance of organizational standards. Keeps records and prepares progress reports. Keeps current in discipline and teaching techniques. Participates in professional development and remains current in the field. Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ch. 74 licensure in the area of Aviation is required.
  • Five years of full-time employment directly related to Aviation.
  • An associate degree may substitute for one of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to one or more strands of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Aviation, and/or in education.
  • A bachelor’s degree may substitute for two of the five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Aviation, and/or in vocational education.
