About The Position

The Avaya Telecommunication Specialist will manage the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems, focusing on Avaya communication tools and VOIP systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in Avaya hardware and software, network protocols, and disaster recovery procedures, ensuring the integrity and performance of the network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or 3-4 years of relevant experience in Avaya telecommunications.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Avaya telecommunications, including expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, telnet, FTP, TFTP, SSH, PPP, SNMP).
  • Proven experience with Avaya Call Center software, reporting tools, and disaster recovery testing and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of Avaya hardware and software systems such as Avaya s8800, s8500, s8300 servers, VOIP media gateways, Avaya Modular Messaging, CXM Call Recording, and more.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Enterprise Data networking hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in LAN/WAN networks and Microsoft Windows Server/Desktop OS.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities, even under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, including vendor support for critical service calls.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a positive, professional attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and respond to hardware and software issues using testing tools and techniques.
  • Perform standard administration of Avaya Communication Manager, Avaya Modular Messaging, VAL Manager, VOIP, and media gateways.
  • Design, install, and manage telecommunications systems and circuits.
  • Manage backups and restores, test, and develop disaster recovery procedures and documentation.
  • Work with Telecommunications Analysts, Technicians, and Enterprise Network support teams to maintain production and non-production systems.
  • Interface with application development and vendor support services to escalate issues during outages or system performance degradation.
  • Ensure the integrity, availability, and accessibility of the network infrastructure.
  • Oversee the integration of networking equipment and applications to maintain smooth and seamless data flow across the enterprise network.
  • Analyze network performance and availability, implementing corrective measures to resolve issues proactively before critical problems arise.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating policies, procedures, and models based on industry best practices.
  • Participate in technical reviews of new technologies and upgrades to ensure improvements are implemented with minimal disruption to users.
  • Work with system users to identify opportunities for enhancing functionality and staff efficiency.
