About The Position

The AVADE Instructor is responsible for delivering advanced-level training in violence prevention, de‑escalation, personal safety, and defensive response strategies. This role focuses on equipping participants with practical skills to recognize threats, manage high‑risk situations, and respond appropriately while emphasizing safety, legal compliance, and professional conduct.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 Years experience as an AVADE instructor.
  • 2 Years experience teaching adult learners in healthcare.
  • Experience in violence prevention, de-escalation, defensive tactics, healthcare safety and education.
  • AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Instructor - AVADE -REQUIRED
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and instructional skill.
  • Ability to manage high stress realistic training scenarios professionally.
  • Ability to safely demonstrate defensive techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in nursing, emergency/safety response, behavioral health or related.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced AVADE training courses for employees, instructors, and leadership groups.
  • Facilitate classroom, scenario‑based, and hands-on training sessions using approved AVADE curriculum.
  • Demonstrate advanced de‑escalation, situational awareness, and defensive techniques in a clear, professional manner.
  • Adapt instructional methods to diverse audiences, experience levels, and learning styles.
  • Deliver standardized AVADE course content while maintaining instructional integrity.
  • Assist with curriculum updates and provide feedback based on participant outcomes and field experience.
  • Ensure training reflects current best practices, legal considerations, and organizational policies.
  • Assess participant performance through practical exercises and scenario‑based evaluations.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and remediation as needed.
  • Recommend participants for successful course completion or additional training.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment at all times.
  • Enforce all safety protocols during physical and scenario-based instruction.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, liability requirements, and ethical guidelines.
  • Serve as a professional representative of the AVADE program.
  • Maintain instructor certification and required continuing education.
  • Mentor new or developing instructors as requested.
