About The Position

The Audio Visual Solutions (AVS) Freelance Technician at The Art Institute of Chicago is responsible for providing technical audiovisual support for live and produced events, as well as exhibitions. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery, setup, and operation of audiovisual systems, while maintaining high standards of organization and professionalism.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with audiovisual technology for live events and performances.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, SmartSheets, Jira, Q-Lab, Adobe Premiere Pro, Pro Tools, and Audition or similar software.
• 1-2 years of experience in live events and/or audiovisual services in relevant settings.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in stage, theater, and/or projection and sound mixing for live events.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery, setup, and operation of audio, lighting, and visual presentation systems for live and virtual events.
• Support exhibition installation and deinstallation while adhering to museum standards.
• Troubleshoot and maintain audiovisual equipment and systems in the museum.
• Organize and maintain cleanliness of technician booths and equipment storage.
• Track and report on installed equipment inventory before and after events.
• Provide consultation and technical assistance to departments and clients.
• Document events through recorded media and assist in digital archiving of materials.
• Research and analyze current and new audiovisual technology relevant to the department.
