About The Position

The AV Systems Technician position at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is a full-time role responsible for coordinating and managing audio-visual needs for various events. This client-facing position involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting high-end AV equipment for live, virtual, and hybrid events, as well as supporting the installation and maintenance of AV systems throughout the museum. The role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of audio-visual equipment operation, set-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional appearance.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, following supervisor directions.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate events, including nights and weekends.
  • Interest in learning new technology-related skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Axixa CTS certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all events and set up high-end audio-visual equipment for live/virtual/hybrid meetings/events.
  • Troubleshoot any issues with AV equipment during events.
  • Tear down and strike equipment post-event.
  • Support the installation, operation, upkeep, and upgrade of all audiovisual systems and computer interactives throughout the museum.
  • Provide excellent customer service to museum employees and clients, handling equipment changes/requests promptly.
  • Work closely with clients and the in-house Event Planning team to ensure successful event completion.
  • Inspect equipment for damage and cleanliness, documenting issues for resolution.
  • Ensure equipment is functional and professionally presented, training clients on its operation.
  • Assist in routine preventative maintenance of AV systems.
  • Maintain order in AV closets/storage rooms.
