About The Position

The primary role of the AV Systems Device Configuration Technician is to provide device configuration, staging, and validation support for audiovisual systems prior to field deployment. This position requires foundational technical knowledge of audiovisual systems, including audio, video, control, and network-based devices, as well as the associated configuration software. The AV Systems Device Configuration Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment is properly configured, tested, documented, and prepared in accordance with engineering documentation and project requirements. This role works closely with Engineering, Programming, Project Management, and Warehouse personnel to support successful system deployment and overall project execution.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework, associate degree, or trade school education preferred.
  • Entry-level experience or demonstrated interest in audiovisual systems, IT, electronics, or related technologies.
  • Basic understanding of AV signal flow, control systems, and IP-based devices preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn AV technologies, configuration tools, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on technical work.

Nice To Haves

  • CTS certification or interest in pursuing industry certifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide AV system device configuration and staging support utilizing foundational skills in equipment setup, firmware loading, configuration, testing, and documentation.
  • Configure AV devices including, but not limited to, DSPs, control processors, touch panels, cameras, displays, and network-based AV equipment under the direction of Engineering staff.
  • Load firmware, configuration files, and system settings in accordance with engineering standards and project documentation.
  • Assign and verify device IP addresses and confirm proper network communication between system components.
  • Perform bench testing and basic system validation to verify device functionality prior to shipment or installation.
  • Assist engineering and programming teams with offsite configuration and pre-commissioning tasks as required.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report basic device configuration or communication issues to Engineering or Project Management.
  • Label, inventory, and prepare equipment for installation in accordance with AVT standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of configured devices, configuration files, firmware versions, and testing results.
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing configuration files and job-related documentation for archival purposes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized staging and configuration environment.
  • Support project timelines by completing assigned tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Follow all safety standards and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project and departmental needs.
